Do you take hot showers? What are your experiences with steaming your face, if you’ve done it?

I got into taking luke warm showers for a while because our hot water heater was broken, but once the heater was fixed I got hooked back into hot showers. I think I’m going to try to cut down on my shower time and shower temperature and see if it helps.
I won’t be giving up my daily shower anytime soon though lol 🙂
I know, hey. Even thought it dries out my skin, it’s my guilty pleasure. I still definitely think people should turn the heat down though if they are having showers where they look like a scalded lobster after they get out.
Have you heard of ginger baths? Adding raw ginger to a bath gives a natural warming sensation to the skin.
I have been quick to either use olive oil or jojoba oil after steaming to lock in the moisture. When I steam I only do it for short and sparse periods of time.
I have! I heard about ginger baths from Natasha at http://www.rawradianthealth.com... I meant to try it this winter, but I always had the heat blasted so much, I was never cold enough to want to! And I’m sure steaming your face quickly is probably not as irritating as doing it for a long time, so if it’s working for you, keeping going with it 🙂
Ugh I love hot showers too. Like sauna hot. But unfortunately my boiler is crappy so even if I wanted to take long sauna showers like that the heat only lasts for a short while before it gets gradually colder and colder and soon it becomes ice cold. I guess one positive of having a crappy boiler is skin that’s not as dry haha
I shower in lukewarm then i finish off with cold water running down on my face. If i just have hot showers my skin is left all red. Not cool….literally lol
Ugh! Hot showers and steaming my face is always a big no-no. I tried the whole steaming the face/oil cleansing method, and it left my skin extremely irritated after a while. For me, any heat is terrible for my face. Even drinking a cup of coffee leaves me flushed! 😀 I personally feel that applying any heat to already irritated or inflamed acne is only going to worsen the issue. I struggle with taking cool showers though! The winter here has just been dreaful.
Hey tracy! love all the articles and such they are really helping me out. I was just wondering how often in general you wash your face? 2x a day? thanks as always
I wash my face at night with honey… and not usually in the morning or I just splash it with water if anything at all… I find that washing my face twice a day dries it out too much!
I wash my face with tea tree oil, its really helps the blackheads around my nose area. I also take hot showers, but just because its really relaxing 😉
I like them too for the relaxing part! I just try not to put my face directly under the stream
I’m eighteen, and I’ve had bad acne for all of my life; constant zits around my mouth, on my chin and forehead, and lots of blackheads on my nose, and my skintype was really frustrating; oily and greasey, yet dry all the time. Wash your face with water as hot as you can stand it for a while, or try steaming it, then slap some of the Lady Soma “Antioxidant Berry Masque”; it’s incredible.
It will dry on your skin; then wash it off. If you have red irritating pimples, you’ll notice a change overnight; and if you use it every night, your skin will rock. The cool thing is, this stuff also shrinks and minimizes the little pocks that zits leave in your face; I used to have them really bad under my eyes, they’re almost nonexistant now.
First off, Tracy, you’re GORGEOUS. Just stunning!
I haven’t seen any of your other videos, but it seems like you believe that the key to healthy skin is keeping it moist (or at least not dry). I dont have dry skin, but I don’t use a moisturizer either. I do shower every night if possible. What are your thoughts on that?
Aw, why thank you 🙂
If your skin is neither dry nor too oily then keep doing whatever you’re doing I guess!
