Are you putting love into the food that you make? Are you putting love into all the things that you do in life?
I think I’ve mostly got the life part down pat… I put plenty of love into this blog, that’s for sure. But I sometimes get very cranky about having to feed myself (this was an issue long before I ever started eating healthy, mind you), and last night, I had a nice little reminder of why I should be infusing more sweet lovin’ into my dinner fixins’.

Are you making your food with love?

I have a miserable kitchen and run down dining room. My kitchen is no bigger than a small walk-in closet. There is a stove and a sink and that is all and room for a full washer that makes it hard to walk anywhere. If I had a decent sized counter to work on I think I would enjoy making food a little more. I just don’t have an area to get comfortable and lose myself in the process. I’m constantly at battle with the my limitations in the kitchen. I make do with what I have though but I’m sure if I had more area to work in I could put more love into the food making.
That’s understandable :/ It is pretty tricky to work in a tiny kitchen
I have recently been doing alot better with putting more thought and “love” into the food I make…I totally get what you are coming from though, not wanting to take the time to make something. (it can be a pain sometimes) after watching this video I went and made a yummy green smoothie.
I want to spin fire! that is soooooo awesome.
Really interesting about the herb infused kombucha. I haven’t tried making my own yet, but I like that idea.
Thanks for the post/video.
Yeah to be honest, I really don’t know what they put in the kombucha! But I was impressed!
I’ve also heard (from Dan McDonald, Life Regenerator) that it is important to eat your food with love. So many eat while watching TV, or talking with friends..they aren’t really mindful of what they are consuming and how it is becoming a part of their bodies.
Hahah I’m guilty of that too… I always want to read or stare at something while I eat… even if it’s just the picture slideshow on my desktop
this was the perfect reminder i needed, thanks 🙂 lately i’ve been feeling resentment building up inside me about how much buying my groceries can cost, about the time it takes to cook, about how quickly i run out of pricier foods… that might sound ridiculous, but it’s true. and ironically, this is coming from someone who at the end of the day, actually enjoys cooking.
i almost wonder if that negative energy has been infused into what i’m eating. the only reason to even take the time and $ to buy and prepare healthy foods is because you *love* your body that much, not out of some passive-aggressive way of trying to force your skin to clear, which is what i’ve been guilty of doing lately.
Yeah that’s exactly how I feel sometimes Jen…. but… it’s always good have a reminder from someone else that we aren’t fighting with our bodies, we are helping and healing them because we care about ourselves and those around us, as well.
I think for everyone, motivation will go through ups and downs – no matter what it is you’re doing. I don’t like it when I get cranky and resistant to food and cooking, but it’s a lot easier if I remind myself that the motivation will return soon.
It’s difficult for me always to make my food with love, though I really want to! ):
Since I cut out dairy and now almost all the wheat I used to eat(and that was a lot), it’s not really easy to live with my parents. I just feel bad when I have to ask them all the time, if they could not add milk or butter in dinner. I can’t always eat the same dinner as them. It makes me feel bad if THEY made it with love because they thought I’d be glad, but by accident added some ingredient that I’ve cut out of my diet. And substitutes are expensive..
I cant help feeling a bit nervous when eating something I haven’t made myself, because I don’t know what’s in it.
Yep, it’s hard living with other people and not having control over your own food! This is something I am going to have to deal with when I move in with my boyfriend’s parents in Australia next month… it sounds like they know I’m a ‘healthy eater’ and probably will be pleased to have someone give them healthy motivation… but… uhh… I don’t want to be an annoying nitpicker. I haven’t even met them yet! So it will be a challenge and I will be able to relate well to all those who are in similar situations with their parents/spouses/others.
I will say this though… in my opinion, it’s usually not the little things in food that make a big difference. Cutting out the majority of the bad foods is what will make the difference (ie. not eating pasta/bread/pastries etc three times a day, or a glass of milk each morning) vs worrying about a tiny bit of wheat gluten or butter or whatever that’s been snuck in. Worrying about the latter will cause stress and probably more acne :/ I’ve been there, and I know that nitpicking the little things doesn’t seem to make any difference (unless you’re REALLY, REALLY sensitive to that thing, in which case you’d probably know with other obvious symptoms as well as acne).
Thanks for the reply 🙂 I was in a pretty bad mood then I road that, I’d just been fighting with my mom about some milk.. It wasn’t even a lot of it, i just stressed out about it. Rediculous and pretty selfish of me when she was just sweet and wanted to make me dinner. 😉 No nitpicking, yes.
Good luck in Australia! 🙂 I have a friend going there soon aswell hehe..
By the way, I LOVE your blog. You are an inspiration – I really love your articels, energy – and well your hair especially!
