In this video, I’m going to show you a quick and easy dinner that I make sometimes.
I apologize for not making more recipe videos! Truth be told, I’m not very imaginative when it comes to cooking. Well, sometimes I am, but most of the time I just eat the same things – green smoothies, big salads, omelettes, soups, or some meat and veg on a plate. I like simple. I like easy. I bet you do too!
So here’s an example easy dinner ‘o’ mine:
i love it when you give us recipe ideas!!
by the way you are sooo gorgeous!! your skin is fantastic! hey, i was reading the other day about the skin ph.i have been using some natural soap lately to cleanse my skin but it has made my skin really dry and lifeless. i found out that soaps, even natural ones, have an alcaline ph as opposed to healthy skin which is slightly acidic.do you know any natural cleansers that are close to the skins ph? i assume that honey is also alkaline.what do you think? oh and about ACV. is it ok if i use the processed type?.i cant find the unprocessed one in my country..
i have another question also. i just found out the GAPS diet but the introduction part (meat broth soups e.t.c.) is really hard for me to try. i just hate the taste. is it ok if i supplement with l-glutamine in order to fix my gut lining? the truth is i am really damaged inside. i have way too many food allergies and hormonal acne. oh gosh i have to stop stressing! i have way too many questions!
Thanks Magda!
Yes bar soap is very bad to use on the skin for that reason… honey is actually slightly acidic so it’s good π That is one of the reasons I use it, although I usually don’t mention that reason much.
Also, I don’t know about processed ACV… are you using it on the skin or internally as well? I personally wouldn’t bother with it if you could only get processed.
Aaand as for GAPS… yeah it’s kind of overwhelming and intimidating. I haven’t tried it yet myself, but… is it just the broth that you don’t like the taste?
You can use L-glutamine and it should definitely help, but I doubt a single supplement would do everything the GAPS could… otherwise who wouldn’t just take the supplement and be done with it! But we all just have to find out what we are personally able to do and do our best… taking HCL betaine, cultured veggies like sauerkraut, kefir, probiotics, and L-glutamine, and cutting out any known allergies, will do leaps and bounds for your guts I think!
estroblock?? can you please fill us in on this pill!
Hi Lulu,
Well, I talked about it in the post on Wednesday as to what it’s for… I haven’t used it myself though. Fran from High on Health had great results with it. What would you like to know about it?
Oh I thought you said you did use it but only one pill a day? Well I guess I’d just like your opinion on it and an explanation for how it works…is it holistic to be using something that is blocking one of the hormones? Is it safe? She said she’s not endorsing it but idk…she looked away and to the right when she claimed that in her video, which often is a signal for lying. I just can’t believe its the miracle that its claimed to be, but im desperate. help!
I was taking a different brand than Estroblock, and yes I was only taking one per day, where as she recommended taking 3. It didn’t do anything for me, but maybe I didn’t take enough/brand wasn’t very good/it’s not what my body needed. I don’t know.
How it works is that the classic pms, moodiness, bloating, and premenstrual acne and all that may be symptoms of estrogen domninance, when your estrogen is a lot higher than it should be compared to your progesterone. However, estrogen is a good thing and has health benefits, so why would it cause all these problems? The theory is that your get all these “bad” estrogenic hormones from the environment, from things like plastics and pesticides. Those go and inhabit the estrogen receptors and cause problems, and then your good estrogen can’t inhabit the receptors and help you. ….. what estroblock and other DIM supplements are supposed to do is help you metabolize the bad synthetic estrogens so that your good estrogen can take over – and hopefully help your acne.
I actually really like simple recipes too. Some meat + veggies + herbs/spices works just fine for me. Maybe we’re just low-maintenance. I don’t need some fois gras souffle or something fancy.
Love the video – love all your videos – but you need to ask for a spatula for Christmas! Don’t use a metal spoon in a non-stick pan, it’ll scratch the non-stick coating!! Ahhhh!
Other than that – awesome as always and I agree with Sampson that I think you underestimate people’s desire to see very simple, quick meal ideas! More please!!
ahaha someone on youtube said the same thing. Maybe I’ll be buying my roommate a new pan for christmas because I scratched his. (we do have a spatula I use most of the time.)
Non stick pans are dangerous… and meat..thats another story, but thanks for the video π
It may be simple but we both forget that MOST people are used to eating crap all day long…
I’ve been thinking of starting a cookbook and I think I just need to do it! Smoothies are great but I need a cookbook…. smoothies would compliment that well!
You have me thinking with this video… thanks for the inspiration Tracy π
Hey Tracy!
What do u think about sweet almond oil?
Awww,I’m making my first green smoothie tonight!
Wth broccoli:D
And I’d already drunk parsley juice(leaves) with apples and was sooooo decicious!<3
Thanks for inspiration:)
xoxo
Paula
Hi Paula!
It could be a good choice in oils to use on your skin… I haven’t personally used it or anything so I dont know much about it, but oils for the skin are great, and if you find one that works well with yours then super!
As for the broccoli smoothie.. lol… you’re brave! Broccoli is so strong tasting, I don’t think I’d ever put it in a smoothie… but I hope it goes well for you ! hehe π
hehe, i made it with 2 bananas and natural yoghurt and it tasted great for me:)maybe it’s a bit difficult to blend (if we mean broccoli) but worth. I love it so that’s not problem to mix broccoli in various ways.
I’d made smoothie for a supper and wasn’t hungry after that;-) only one i’d not eat is belgian brussel. So awful!
i’ve asked u about sweet almond oil coz i bought a little by the internet yesterday. I ordered teatree oil and shea butter too, hope that’s a good choice;-)
I’ve never used coconut oil and I was wondering, does the food taste a bit of coconut when you use it? π
I’ve never noticed my food tasting like coconut… apparently some people can detect it, but I think it’s very slight if at all
Once I discovered coconut oil I threw all the rest out and never went back. I buy it by the gallon (extra virgin organic) This is probably the best: http://www.longevitywarehouse.com/Longevity-Superfoods-Coconut-Oil-1-Gallon-p/coconutoills1gal.htm
I use it for ALL cooking/baking including my skin for a moisturizer.
This recipe is so satisfying! It’s become a favorite in my apartment. I think you should keep doing the cooking vids, no matter how simple they may be. You opened my eyes to how good green beans and mushrooms taste together, yum!
I’m off to make the tea recipe you posted… Still loving the blog!
I made this for myself the other day but added some red peppers into the mix and it was sooo yummy! I do have one question though, I have heard that cooked veggies have only a 25% of the nutrients that raw vegtables do. Is that true?
If so thats a bummer because most veggies only taste good to be cooked.
Thanks and I agree with the post above mine, you should make more cooking videos even if they are simple π
Hi Kerstin,
I don’t know if it’s only 25%… the thing is that a lot of raw vegetables are wrapped up in a hard cellulose casing that is hard for your digestive system to break down and get at said nutrients… so you do lose some nutrients when you cook, but the ones that are left tend to be more available for you.
There’s also the case that it’s not just flat out that everything gets destroyed equally… it’s like… the classic example of lycopene in tomatoes being much more powerful when cooked, but cooking destroys the vitamin C. So, really, it’s just good to be eating a variety of both cooked and raw vegetables.
