It’s that time of year!
Well… in the northern hemisphere, anyway. Yes, it’s time to think about planting a vegetable garden if you would like to have the freshest, healthiest, and most inexpensive organic vegetables around!
I just got my garden all sorted out, and I filmed a video for you to get you all amped to plant your own!
Now, this isn’t really much of an instructional video… I honestly don’t really know what I’m doing, so it’s best to get actual gardening advice elsewhere on the internet. My video is just to take the mystery out of the process and turn down the intimidation factor!
You get to watch me prepare and plant my vegetable garden… in fast motion!

Also, so you know what you have to look forward to several months after you’ve planted, you can check out my video from last year where I showed you my veggie garden in full bloom:

And for those of you out there who don’t have a back yard or any kind of space to grow a full garden, you can always get garden pots and grow some stuff on a balcony or deck.
Are you going to be planting and growing any veggies this year?

Don’t forget tomatoes this year! I love the smell of tomato plants in the summer.. 🙂
hah I don’t think we’re doing tomatoes this year…. we’re too late on starting them, but we’ll start them really early inside for next year! Although I guess we could buy some tomato plants…
Love these types of articles and videos Tracy. I’m trying to grow celery and rosemary, but the damn squirrels keep digging it up!
Already have a few tomatoes sprouting. The broccoli is also showing its leaves, but still no actual “broccoli.”
Gardening also lets us reconnect with nature so it’s very therapeutic on a physical and emotional level. On top of the benefits of being outdoors and in the sun, gardening makes you appreciate the beauty in all forms of life, plant and animal alike.
Your gardening videos rock!
My family and I always plant a garden! We grow so much in the summer that we give tons away, can a whole room worth of veggies and blanch and freeze pounds and pounds more! It’s a lot of work, but completely worth ever minute! Good luck to your garden! God bless! 🙂
Hello, Tracy! This is rather unrelated, so I apologize for the black sheep comment, but I have a question about skincare. I’ve finished the Gaps Intro, and have been on the Gaps diet for two months now (your bathroom visits will get better, I promise!). I have highly sensitive skin, which is especially aggravated by things I eat, I seem to get a new spot with each meal. I know clear skin starts from the inside, and so until all that is sorted and healed my skin won’t really reflect high health. I’ve been using a face cleanser called, Ilike, (http://szepelet.com/productcategories/cleansersandcleansingconcentrates/12) and it cleared my congested skin when it became clogged after a few months of the jojoba oil and honey routine last year. I’ve continued to moisturize still with the jojoba oil, and finish with aloe gel at night, but my skin has become SO greasy lately. It’s been breaking out along my chin, mouth and eyebrow line as well. Do you think a new regime would help? Is my cleanser too harsh for my skin? The ingrediants are minimal but I wonder still. . .Do you have any advice from your experience? Are there times when your skin simply did not need the extra moisture and you left it out? It’s difficult to find a simple skin care regime by following your intuition, especially when washing with jojoba oil has worked so wonderfully for you and Fran. My skin really began worsening when I transistioned to GAPS a few months ago, my body just doesn’t seem to be adjusting. I would love to hear from you, I hope GAPS has been treating you well. One day I hope to have a story of how I cleared my acne too! Have a wonderful day! XO.
Hi Melanie – if you can do it, I’d recommend the caveman regimen… do nothing and let your skin heal itself naturally, since nothing else seems to be working for you so well. I don’t know about that cleanser, the ingredients do look minimal but I never know with cleansers… there’s still too many ingredients to really know what the deal is.
As for GAPS, if you’ve been on it a few months and aren’t feeling like your body is liking, consider going off of it. You might be interested in my most recent post about me putting the GAPS on hold
Hey, I know this is aimed at Tracy and I’m definitely not her, but I looked at that cleanser link and I found one of the ingredients is Ichthammol, which is also known as ammonium bituminosulfonate, and it comes from oil shale. It’s known to ‘draw out’ infection, but the way it actually works is by softening and weakening the skin where you put it on, and this makes spots come to a head quicker and more easily. It might be that if you have very sensitive skin, this initially cleared your skin up because it drew out all the current congestion but now it’s encouraging your skin to produce more oil than normal.
I know honey and jojoba oil doesn’t work for everyone, but there are SO many other oils that your skin may get along with better! Just because Tracy and Fran use it and they have clear skin doesn’t mean it works for everyone (although I know that’s frustrating!) Have you tried the water-only method, like Tracy did in her Caveman regimen? I have super sensitive skin and when i was breaking out REALLY badly, I found this worked best because anything I put on my face just irritated it more.
Anyway from one acne sufferer to another, hope you figure out what’s going on and you get clear asap!
Thanks Steph! See, I didn’t know that about Ichthammol. I’m glad to hear also that you are liking the caveman regimen… I’m still loving it, I really think it’s one of the best things I ever did for my skin.
Cool video:)
I try growing things every year but they never seem to work out 🙁
So this year I don’t think I will be, but I am definitely interested in learning for next time.
Thanks Tracy
Bobby
It was very relaxing to watch you work so hard. 😉
Good job! Looks like it will be wonderfully delicious.
Hey Tracy,
I know this is sort of un-related to this post but what are your opinoins on protein powders for weight gain? Not whey but the more natural one like hemp protein powder, cold pressed. I need to gain weight but have digestion problems and was recomended this. Thoughts?
Hi Amy – I don’t really have an opinion. If it’s not too processed with lots of additives then I don’t see the problem really
